Elín Anna Þórisdóttir (Iceland)

STATEMENT: Elin Anna seeks to challenge herself and the viewer with demanding questions loaded with humor. She wonders about the connection between art and its surroundings, process and purpose. Many of her works are experimental and have a feeling of spontaneity. This is best seen in her impulsive paintings and strange performances.

BIO: Elín Anna (b. 1974) is an Icelandic artist living and working in Reykjavík. She has a BA in Fine Arts from The Icelandic Academy of the Arts. She works with painting, video, performances, photographs and sculpture. She is founder of Sultan Eldmóður along with Helena Hans. SE is a social performance and venue for art events. SE organized events once a month for one year at Bakkus bar. A documentary was recently made about this phenomenon. www.cargocollective.com/sultaneldmodur.
