María Dalberg (Iceland)

STATEMENT: María uses rhythm, texture and movements to create a mystical atmosphere to her works. In her films you can see a single person playing on an instrument or flying. In the working process she has developed manual techniques to try to create a special texture in her films that are similar to the texture of running water . In the editing room María cuts together clips that have these special textures and original clips from her films. The films have an aesthetic, emotional and technical essence. They have been shown both as a part of an installation and in movie theatres. María Dalberg graduated from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2009, fine art department.
