Tina Willgren (Sweden)

STATEMENT: My work often deals with sensorial aspects of civilization and the interaction between the worlds we perceive as either inner or outer. The starting points for the ideas can be a feeling of absurdity when watching traffic passing by on a city street as in “Vehicles” or the ghostly appearances of leftover traing clothes as in “Workout”. I believe that dead matter somehow constitutes living forces of our minds, that they populate our consciousness where they take on lives of their own. I think about my work as something that could be the result of society having a nocturnal dream, where components of reality: objects, imagery and sounds are being processed and re-composed into new combinations.

BIO: Born in Tierp, Sweden 1972. Live and work in Stockholm, primarily with video. MA degree at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm 2005.
